South Carolina Parents Involved in Education ACTION (SCPIE ACTION) President Tracie Happel announced endorsements today of four candidates running in the June 14th Primary.
Ms. Happel said that “the unsuccessful fight against Common Core in South Carolina exposed the need to hold elected officials accountable. The watered-down compromise bill passed in 2014 resulted in ‘new’ standards that are 91% aligned with Common Core – simply Common Core with a new name.”
The inaugural group of endorsements for SCPIE ACTION are Republican SC Senator Lee Bright of Greenville, Republican SC Representative Jonathon Hill of Anderson, Republican Candidate for Pickens Senate District 2 Don Joslyn, and Republican Candidate for Pickens House District 5 Rick Tate.
Sheri Few, who heads the national parent group United States Parents Involved in Education (USPIE) said, “With President Obama’s transgender bathroom edict, it is clearly time to end the unconstitutional authority assumed by the US Department of Education. For half a century now this experiment with federal control of local public schools has gone on and it’s failed.”

You have shown and demonstrated [pledged in writing] your support for South Carolinians' firearm rights, and We believe as a State Representative you will fight to safeguard the fundamental right of all South Carolinians to keep and bear arms as the 2nd amendment intends it to be.
I am pleased to endorse your campaign on behalf of our PAC because of your proven record of courageous, pro-gun leadership in the South Carolina House of Representatives. Even in the face of fierce opposition, often from members of your own party, you stood up for gun owners across South Carolina by sponsoring and fighting for the passage of Constitutional Carry.
The business community knows you to be a champion of free enterprise and competition based on the quantitative measure of your most recent BIPEC Legislative Vote Scores. You have made a commitment to promote business and industry in the Palmetto State and recognize your constituents’ drive and determination to achieve the fundamental goal of providing for their families. You understand also that, since the birth of this nation, that goal has been achieved by a thriving competitive and free enterprise system.
Jonathon is running against Representative Don Bowen. While we endorsed Bowen eight years ago, he has continually voted for more spending and frivolous pork projects. These spending habits have garnered him a 50 on the SC Club for Growth Foundation’s 2013 Scorecard. Jonathon will bring his small business experience to the statehouse and watch after your tax dollars like they were his own.
